06/01/2022 – Second Year Anniversary
It’s my second year anniversary! Come party with me. This is 10 on Religion.
Hey peeps, it’s Dr. B. with TenOnReligion. If you like religion and philosophy content one thing I really need you to do is to smash that sub button because it really helps out the channel. The transcript is available at TenOnReligion.com and I also have a ko-fi linked in the description if you’d like to help out the channel and help me keep this baby going.
I can’t believe it’s been two years since I started this channel. I want to give a big shout out and thanks to all the subscribers because it means so much to the channel. I’m so happy I’ve been able to be consistent in posting every two weeks. Let’s talk about some of the highlights of this past year. Last summer I did a summer philosophy series on Heidegger, Tillich, and Gadamer. I also did three episodes on Wesley Wildman’s religious philosophy series. Touched on religion and science. Did another Tillich episode and Bob Neville episode. Covered Ernst Troeltsch, one of the super important early figures in the academic study of religion, and also the new initiative into global-critical philosophy of religion. Next up we’re going to talk about religious pluralism, get into Raimon Panikkar some more, introduce W. C. Smith, and possibly do another John Hick episode. There’s a lot of good stuff coming up.
I was curious as to which of my 55 episodes were doing the best so I looked at the stats. Two years into this thing here’s the top watched episodes so far:
- Number 5: Who Was Feuerbach?
- Number 4: Was Mary A Virgin?
- Number 3: Historical Critical Method in Religion
- Number 2: Who was John Hick?
- And Number 1: Life of Pi and religion
These were all posted during the first two months after the channel started in 2020 so they’ve had a lot of time to be passed around. Since Life of Pi is number one, maybe I should do another episode showing the religious themes in a film. I have a few ideas. We’ll see if I get inspired.
I can’t remember how many subscribers I had at this point last year. Maybe 50? It’s over 190 now, so we’re trending in the right direction. Like a lot of YouTube channels, less than 10% of people who watch videos actually subscribe to the channel. It’s a big deal because the more people who subscribe means the more the content expands exponentially. That’s just how the algorithm works. So, if you’re listening to this and not subscribed, please subscribe and help us spread the knowledge about how the academic field of religion works.
It’s been a great two years and looking forward to the next one. Again, thanks to those of you who like religion and philosophy and watch this channel. Let me know in the comments if you have a specific topic you’d like to see covered in the future and I’ll see what I can do. Until next time, stay curious. If you enjoyed this, please like this video and subscribe to the channel because it really helps out. This is 10 on Religion.
